South African borders are open to all countries. President Cyril Ramaphosa, announced on 22nd March 2022, changes to Alert Level 1 lockdown regulations which included an announcement that international travellers entering South Africa, who are fully vaccinated, no longer need a PCR test. All unvaccinated travellers entering the country will still require a negative PCR test issued within the last 72 hours. But travellers who wish to be vaccinated will be offered a vaccination on arrival.
As per the South African Ministry of Health, unvaccinated children under 12 are not required to show proof of a negative COVID test to enter the country.
Where pre-departure tests are required, for unvaccinated adults, PCR tests need to have been conducted within the 72 hours prior to departure, and rapid antigen tests within 48 hours before departure.

PCR Testing
Should Kapama Private Game Reserve be our guest’s final stop before returning home (to borders outside of South Africa), Kapama will be able to assist guests with obtaining a PCR test, should this still be required by their next country or destination. Kapama will arrange to transport guests the day before their departure, to a designated medical facility in the town of Hoedspruit. The test will be conducted at the testing facility in Hoedspruit and results will be received the following day. The cost of the test is R500.
