Another great day in Africa

Kapama Ranger Blog

The game drive started very well when we drove into a herd of three hundred buffalo.  We were surrounded by buffalo for more than half a hour, big bulls, small calves and many females all making there way to the watering hole at the end of a long day of grazing. We left the buffalo and not long after that we found a heard of giraffe feeding on the pods and leaves of a thicket of red bush-willow trees with the sun setting behind the Northern Drakensburg as a spectacular backdrop.

We decided that it was a good time to stop for sundowners, the guests were all excited with the amazing buffalo and giraffe sighting we had had so far.

After drinks we responded to sighting of our dominant male lion and female that we followed through the bush further and further away from the road.  When we thought the day was at an end one of the team members found a leopard close to the lodge, a young female so relaxed and calm what a great day out on safari on Kapama.
