Big 5 Safari Sightings Led by Expert Rangers

Join Kapama on a luxury game drive in a private reserve near Greater Kruger and experience a safari in Africa at its most personal. Your guide and assistant guide  meander through the bush in an open vehicle, so you spot the Big Five and stay present for every moment.

African Safari Luxury Tours in Open Safari Vehicles

Kapama runs African safari luxury tours in open vehicles that keep your view wide and your senses engaged. You feel the temperature shift, hear the bush wake up and watch behaviour unfold as your guide explains what you see.

A safari at Kapama is the essence of your journey, offering two daily game drives that reveal the wilderness in its many moods. Early mornings and late afternoons are the ideal times for game viewing, when dawn’s gentle light stirs the bush to life, and dusk signals the start of the nocturnal world.

Animals, Birds and Flora You Notice at Safari Pace

No two drives are ever the same. One morning, you may find giraffes moving gracefully through the acacia woodlands, silhouetted against the sunrise, while by evening, the soft call of nightjars and guineafowl marks the close of day as the first stars appear. Each drive offers the possibility of encountering **Africa’s Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhino, and buffalo—**in their natural habitat, along with a host of other wildlife that share this landscape.

Kapama is also a sanctuary for over 350 bird species, from the vibrant lilac-breasted roller to the majestic martial eagle, making every game drive a rewarding experience for birding enthusiasts and casual observers alike. Beyond wildlife, the reserve’s rich tapestry of unique trees and shrubs, from towering marulas to delicate wildflowers, forms an integral part of the Kapama ecosystem, each season revealing its palette of textures, colours, and scents.

Your guide points out smaller animals, identifies bird calls, and explains the plants which support the food chain. You leave each game drive with more than photos, because you understand the details that make the ecosystem work.

To ensure guests experience the very best of the bush, Kapama adjusts safari schedules with the seasons, optimising your time in the reserve whether you visit during the warm summer months (October to March) or the cooler, clear winter season (April to September).

Safari Resort Comfort Between Every Game Drive

Return to lodge comfort between drives and enjoy a safari resort stay that feels calm, private, and genuinely indulgent. You slow the pace, freshen up and step back out when the light changes and the bush comes alive again

Every drive reveals a new story written by the wild. Continue your journey beyond the safari — explore the Kapama Blog for behind-the-scenes tales, guide insights, and field notes from our expert guides who witness the bush’s rhythm each day.
