As I approached the area, something did not seem right. If it was an impala there would have been more in the vicinity. I once again stopped the vehicle to confirm what had in fact crossed the road.

I smiled broadly hoping I did not give anything away. I casually turned to my guests and told them we had a surprise for them. I slowly made our way towards the tree. As we approached my guest suddenly realised what we had spotted in the distance earlier. Finally, the moment we had hoped for materialised.

The 10th fact is for me, the most interesting fact of all. That is the relationship they have with termites.

They fluff up their tails and the dorsal manes on their back, whilst arching their heads forward with horns held high. It is in this rather contorted posture that they then deliberately circle one another, slowly high stepping their bright yellow/orangey legs as they go.

All of a sudden it seemed as if chaos broke out. Alarm calls and barking were going off in all directions, animals running left and right and all over the place trying to escape the lion’s attack. After that, we heard a massive thud as if something fell to the ground and a final grunt. Then everything went quiet again…
