Changes in the weather

Kapama Ranger Blog

For the last couple of weeks we have been having very good weather here at Kapama and the sightings have in turn been very good on the most part. Strangely enough for this time of year we are having some overcast weather and windy conditions which has been affecting our sightings a little but luckily for the most parts we are still being very lucky as, this is when predators are making the most of the good hunting conditions due to the fact that the wind makes it difficult for the prey species to hear and smell. So, we had an awesome sighting of a young male leopard with not only one but two warthog kills in a tree. Predators will often catch more than one animal at this time and have been known to make the most of it by making more than 1 kill to make the most of it. It was an awesome sighting with the leopard moving the kill more than once. So, once again here is an example of how even though you may be unlucky in some departments you can never know what might be hanging in the next tree !
