Ok guys so I decided to leave the snakes for another day
Today started again like any other, all the rangers gets mobile from the lodge and go their separate ways to go and find the animals. This morning I decided to go and follow up on our elephants that constantly like to make disappearing acts and our lions. Found the elephants hiding in the reeds down by the river, same area as where our lions have been the past few months. The male and female lion has started mating again which is quite strange since there were signs of cubs in the area, so all we can think of is that the reason for them mating again is that the cubs might have died, putting the female in oestrus again. She still stayed in the area for awhile so we guess that she stayed there searching for her youngsters. We will keep you updated.
Tonight with the new guests we went out in search for some rhino and buffalo and what an eventful drive, we were not even 10minutes out the lodge before the buffalos were found fast asleep, here and there a few that was awake busy grazing after viewing them for about 15minutes or so heard that they found some rhino not far from where the buffalo were, so I made my way there. Whilst I was having a great drive so far some of the other rangers struggled once again with the lions and the elephants. The couple of rangers following up on the 4 sub-adult lionesses had no luck at all.
By now most of us have already stopped for sundowners to enjoy the beautiful sunset behind the Drakensberg Mountains, some still following up looking for the 4 lionesses. Little while later after when we continued the drive Richard one of the rangers that was making his way back to the lodge happen to drive by the one dam where I don’t think anyone past by and found the 4 lionesses in the road. The 4 made it extremely difficult for us to keep up with them since they decided to walk through the thick bushes and back into the road up and down back and forth. It was great we managed to get some great pictures of the 4 females.
