Impala

Kapama Ranger Blog

While on drive this morning we came across a newly born baby impala. The impala was only a few hours old and was still stumbling around while trying to keep up with the mother and the rest of the herd. What made this such an awesome sighting is that it is one of the first to be born for this season as the ewe impala tend to always give birth around the first rains of the year. As we had our first rains a couple of days ago, and again last night, this is a phenomenon that will occur frequently now. We should be seeing a lot of newborns in the next month and we are all very excited about that.
