We have been rather privileged over the past 4 days, the lioness has started taking the 3 cubs on daily excursions from drainage line to drainage line.
Its amazing to see that the cubs are healthy, full of young life and very playful!
Two nights ago we were unfortunate to see that one of the old buffalo bull’s got stuck in the mud at one of the waterholes in the reserve, being old it didn’t have the strength to get out of the mud where unfortunately, he died!
What was perfect about the location of the waterhole that the buffalo died in, was that in was very close to where the Lioness and the cubs were last seen!
The next morning, on the game drive, there were tracks of the cubs with the lioness found all around the carcass. With a few bite marks on the carcass itself!
Its fantastic to know that the cubs are doing so well, and the chances of them living long and successful lives on the reserve, are getting better and better!
I’m sure we’ll be seeing more of the cubs as summer starts to arrive, as they’ll be making more regular visits to the watering holes!
