Yesterday we welcomed a French group to the main lodge, they had been to several reserves on their trip, but had not been lucky with lion sightings and luckily we knew that our dominant male lion had been close to the lodge earlier that morning.
As we got ready to set off on afternoon game drive he obliged by starting to roar, just as we left the lodge.
only to encounter the breeding herd of elephants moving towards the direction of the lion’s roar. Their final destination was no doubt our staff quarters with a grove of marula trees.
Luckily we were able to view the lion before the elephants got to him, as he would have had to make a hasty retreat, with the breeding herd having many youngsters in the herd.
After putting on quite a show with lots of roaring, yawning and showing off his lengthy canines, the lion
stood up and moved off into the distance, without a care in the world!
