Going on safari is an experience where you can be a part of nature and the surroundings. Being part of a lion hunting its prey is extreme excitement, suspense, action and drama, all at once. But seeing the opposite is heart warming.
Coming back from an amazing morning drive where we saw two leopard cubs just relaxing on a log, a cheetah pulling down a bushbuck and lions stalking some impala, no one thought it could get any better. Half way back to the lodge we drove past a giraffe, so we stopped. The giraffe then spread her legs standing in an awkward stance and seconds later gave birth to a little one.
We couldn’t believe how lucky we were to be part of this and to have the opportunity to see nature in its purest form, the beginning of life for a tiny, young giraffe.
We stood there watching the mom cleaning the youngster and prodding it to stand up. Forty-five minutes later after a few failed attempts and very important life lessons, the baby giraffe was standing on its own feet jumping and running around!
What a way to end a successful morning!
