Today we came across a beautiful pair of Walberg eagles that were in the process of reconstructing their nest. The Walberg eagle is a summer migrant that just comes to breed in our lovely warm summer weather. They often make use of the same nests year after year, as is the case with this particular pair, unless their nest gets destroyed.
It is always entertaining to watch them reconstruct the nests as the poor birds don’t have any hands to really get a good grip on the material (which usually consists of dead branches) and have to rely only on their beaks to build the nests so a lot of mistakes are encountered and hard earned material is often lost.
