Wellness hand scrub and Berry Smoothie

May 21, 20200 comments

Each Wednesday over the next few weeks, Kapama Wellness Centre & Spa Manager Liezel Jamneck will take you on a Kapama Wellness journey as she shares her tips and wellness recipes with us.

Today Liezl has a wonderful homemade hand scrub as well as a delicious blueberry smoothie recipe that she will demonstrate.

We hope you enjoy them.

Frequent washing of our hands can be very drying on the skin. Our hands are the first area to display aging. Exfoliating your hands two to three times a week will increase the production of collagen and delay the appearance of wrinkles.  Here is a very easy scrap that you can make at home. You will need:

  •  half a cup of brown sugar
  •  half a cup of olive oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix all together

Then for the application:

Massage the scrub gently onto your hands and let it soak into your skin for just over 2 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

At Kapama Wellness Spas we use the sugar and oil scrub from BABOR followed by the repair hand cream.  For more information about our spas – click here

Liezl Jamneck shares one of her favourite blueberry and chai recipes. This smoothie has antioxidant properties to protect us from aging.

 You will need:

  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 teaspoons of chai seeds

Blend them all together

Garnish with a few extra blueberries and enjoy as a wonderful snack of breakfast.

Kapama Lion Kill

From Calm to Chaos

All of a sudden it seemed as if chaos broke out. Alarm calls and barking were going off in all directions, animals running left and right and all over the place trying to escape the lion’s attack. After that, we heard a massive thud as if something fell to the ground and a final grunt. Then everything went quiet again...
Kapama Leopard

On the Prowl

It wasn’t long before she gracefully made her way down from the termite mound. The Leopard seemed to be quite interested in the movements of the Nyala, and she slowly made her way towards them. In her elegant stride, she stopped a few times and glared at us before continuing on with a steady pace. We followed her, eager to see what would happen.

Hitching a Ride

He was struggling to not only push the ball, but also push it up a small hill. He would move his boulder about halfway up this hill, loose strength and then sadly roll back down into the road. I heard soft chatter from my guests with an occasionally Aww! each time it happened.
