Wellness hand scrub and Berry Smoothie

Each Wednesday over the next few weeks, Kapama Wellness Centre & Spa Manager Liezel Jamneck will take you on a Kapama Wellness journey as she shares her tips and wellness recipes with us.

Today Liezl has a wonderful homemade hand scrub as well as a delicious blueberry smoothie recipe that she will demonstrate.

We hope you enjoy them.

Frequent washing of our hands can be very drying on the skin. Our hands are the first area to display aging. Exfoliating your hands two to three times a week will increase the production of collagen and delay the appearance of wrinkles.  Here is a very easy scrap that you can make at home. You will need:

  •  half a cup of brown sugar
  •  half a cup of olive oil
  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil

Mix all together

Then for the application:

Massage the scrub gently onto your hands and let it soak into your skin for just over 2 minutes. Rinse with warm water.

At Kapama Wellness Spas we use the sugar and oil scrub from BABOR followed by the repair hand cream.  For more information about our spas – click here

Liezl Jamneck shares one of her favourite blueberry and chai recipes. This smoothie has antioxidant properties to protect us from aging.

 You will need:

  • 1 cup of frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 2 bananas
  • 2 teaspoons of chai seeds

Blend them all together

Garnish with a few extra blueberries and enjoy as a wonderful snack of breakfast.

Moments of Pride

As he lent back, preparing himself for the huge leap, we all held our breaths, for one miss calculation could mean he would not make it or end up impaled on the trees thorny protection. It appeared as if in our own minds we were all silently counting him down. One… Two… Threeeeeeeee… and he took off ...

Gladiators of the Plains

They touched down for a second then began again with another round. Even in the air, they continued to bite each other’s face and neck. This continued for a while, chasing each other up and down the plains testing the strength and stamina of their worthy opponent.

Bush Cleaning

When we arrived, we noticed that a baby giraffe had been killed during the night or early hours of the morning. Even though we did not get to see the kill and the lions were no longer feeding, it was still an interesting opportunity for my guests to hear the call of the hyena, as well as see how they break and chew on bones.
